Half Step Camp

Who is Half Step Camp for?

HS Camp is for any and all high school aged students in Northern Colorado who are looking for community and have an interest in musical or creative arts regardless of their religious affiliation or musical ability.

I'm not a Christian. Is Half Step Camp for me?

Yes! Everyone gathers at camp because we love music and we love people. If you're not a Christian, we still want to get to know you and play music with you! We ask everyone to bring their full selves and allow us space to do the same.

What do you do at Half Step Camp? Why are the days so long?

At camp, we spend time getting to know each other and the best way to do that is to do things that we love together! We play group games, participate in a fun choir, learn instruments, rehearse as a band, eat together, have some free time, do challenges together, talk about life skills, emotional health and Jesus, and we listen to each other play a TON of music!

What workshops are offered at camp?

We offer rock/pop band instrument workshops: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keys/Piano, and Voice.

We also offer Special Workshops: Country Swing Dance, Improv, Dance, Songwriting, Spikeball, Arts & Crafts, and Barista Skills.

Will I get the workshop I requested?

Workshops fill up on a first come, first serve basis. We try to get you into your first choice, but the more popular workshops fill up FAST, so if it is already full, we put you into your second choice. There are rare occasions where both are full, in which case we will work with you to make sure you get a workshop you want!

Do I need to bring my own instrument?

We will have several instruments in each workshop that have been donated so you do not need to bring your own. However, if you would prefer to play your own instrument you are encouraged to do so!

What skill level are workshops geared towards?

Our workshop leaders are all Intermediate-Advanced players on their instruments. They have learned the camp songs in a way that will allow them to teach a beginner the basics or an advanced student the specifics of each song. Occasionally, a student is more experienced than a leader, but we have other ways to push and challenge the student to still make it fun and engaging!
